Which camp are you in?

Bear with me here…

Do you love Marmite or do you hate it?

I’m firmly in the ‘love it’ camp - especially on cheese, in a sandwich... mmm, yummy!😀

The exact same question can be applied to ‘maths’. This time I’m in the other camp - I hate it!

Maths lessons at school were never exactly my favourite place to be. Who wants to know about two trains leaving different stations anyway - numbers never really spoke my language.

I did like geometry though!

There was something satisfying about the clarity of circles and squares - shapes that felt simple on the surface yet endlessly capable of variation. I suppose they appealed to my artistic side even then.

That fascination has followed me into my painting. You’ll notice that many of my works contain echoes of those same geometric forms.

In Off On A Tangent’, I let myself play freely with them - circles expanding, squares nesting within each other, and lines drifting between order and instinct. What begins as structure gradually loosens into something more expressive.

Look closely and the surface reveals layers of soft turquoise, glowing amber, and deep rust tones that seem to hover and merge across the canvas. Rounded forms feel almost like lenses or portals, while the angular shapes create pathways that guide the eye deeper into the composition. The paint drips and subtle textures add a sense of gravity and movement, as though the geometry itself has begun to breathe.

When this piece hangs in a room, it brings a quiet sense of balance. The structured forms create visual stability, while the colours and flowing textures add warmth and energy. It’s the kind of painting that slowly reveals itself over time - the more you live with it, the more relationships between shapes and colours begin to emerge.

There’s a quiet satisfaction in discovering harmony where structure and intuition collide, and that’s exactly where this painting lives.

‘Proof that even if maths wasn’t your favourite subject, geometry can still create something beautiful… and yummy!🙂’

Ok, question time!

What sweets did you spend your ‘pocket money’ on when you were a kid?

My sweets of choice were, and I quote…

‘That well-loved, British-made chewy, fruit-flavoured sweet with a crunchy, multi-coloured sugar shell’

I’m talking about ‘Tooty Frooties’.

Yes, these sweets were responsible for burning a hole in my pocket as well as probably a fair few trips to the dentist ☹️.

Bursting with colour, flavour, and fun, they were little bite size morsels of pure joy that felt like happiness you could hold in your hand. Tootifrooti’ is my way of bottling that same playful spirit - bold shapes and juicy colours colliding in a vibrant hum of energy.

The emotional temperature is bright, carefree, and nostalgic. Reds, greens, purples, and blues fizz across the canvas like flavours tumbling from a sweet packet, each colour alive in its own right but even stronger together.

It’s fun, it’s fizzy, it’s full of life!

In your home, ‘Tootifrooti’ brings a jolt of joy. Hang it in a living room and it becomes a conversation starter, in a kitchen or dining space, it feels like flavour bursting into the air. In a studio or hallway, it lifts energy and mood with every glance.

It has the ability to connect colour with memory. It’s not just abstract - it’s playful, nostalgic, and personal. The more you look, the more it pulls you back to childhood excitement, those simple pleasures of pocket money spent on sweets that felt like treasure.

This piece thrives in eclectic, modern, and colourful interiors. It adds personality to minimalist spaces, cheer to neutral palettes, and rhythm to bold ones. Wherever it lives, ‘Tootifrooti’ will always hum with energy and fun.

“A bold abstract that bursts with flavour, fun, and memory”.

Ok, forgive me as we go off-piste for a moment.

Let me ask you a question:

How many elephants can you fit in a Mini?

You know the answer. Two in the front, two in the back. Riddle solved.

Except… not here.

With ‘Crush’, that familiar childhood joke is flipped on its head. One enormous elephant sits smugly atop a pancaked, light-blue vintage Mini, its full weight calmly, unapologetically applied. The car lies defeated beneath it, grill twisted, bodywork flattened, number plate - CRU 541T - knocked loose on the ground like a punchline delivered with perfect timing.

The title felt inevitable.

And then there’s the giraffe.

For those who know the riddle well, the follow-up riddle is always:

How many giraffes can you fit in a Mini?

The answer, of course, is none - because it’s full of elephants.

Here, with the Mini very much out of commission, the giraffe takes its cue and exits stage right. Only its hindquarters remain, walking away with as much dignity as possible, a silent protest rendered in paint. It’s a small detail - but one that completes the joke and deepens the narrative for those who spot it.

The style is unapologetically surrealist - deliberately Daliesque - and proudly so. Surrealism felt like the only honest language for this idea: where logic bends, scale lies, and humour carries meaning. The elephant’s calm expression, the impossibility of the scene, the theatrical placement of each element - all work together to suspend disbelief and invite the viewer into the joke.

The setting plays its part too. A warm, sun-baked desert stretches behind the scene - ochres, yellows, and burnt oranges glowing beneath a vast blue sky. It’s a stage rather than a location, timeless and uncluttered, allowing the characters to perform. The contrast between heat and cool, stillness and collapse, serenity and chaos heightens the sense of visual theatre.

Every texture is considered: the damaged paintwork of the Mini, the leathery folds of the elephant’s skin, the smooth gradient of sky. This is whimsy, yes - but it’s crafted whimsy.

On the wall, ‘Crush’ becomes an instant conversation starter, not just because of it’s size. It doesn’t whisper - it grins. The longer you live with it, the more it reveals: the quiet confidence of the elephant, the sly humour of the number plate, the giraffe’s perfectly timed exit.

Collectors often find that pieces like this shift the emotional temperature of a room. There’s lightness here. Playfulness. A reminder not to take everything - especially ourselves - too seriously. It brings warmth, curiosity, and story into a space, rewarding both casual glances and closer inspection.

It’s art that invites laughter first… and affection soon after.

At 170 × 190 cm, ‘Crush’ is deliberately larger than life - a scale chosen to echo the absurdity at its heart. This is a painting you don’t simply hang; it claims space. The elephant’s weight feels real because the canvas allows it to be, turning a visual joke into a physical presence that can be felt across the room.

From a distance, the sheer size stops you in your tracks; up close, it reveals layers of detail and texture that reward slow looking. It’s this combination of humour, craftsmanship, and commanding scale that transforms ‘Crush’ from an image into an experience.

One elephant, one Mini, one giraffe, one surreal scene’.

Urban Dance
from £604.00

Size:  70 x 50 × 4cm. (28 × 20 × 1.5in.)

Complimentary worldwide shipping included. International orders are supplied rolled for safe transit.

‘Urban Dance’ began with a loose idea of the city at night.

Not a specific place, more a feeling, tall buildings, shifting shadows, that constant hum of energy you get when everything is still moving long after the sun’s gone down. But as the painting developed, it started to feel less like architecture and more like movement.

That’s when it changed.

Those vertical strokes began to take on a rhythm of their own. The yellows started to pulse like streetlights, oranges pushed through like neon, and streaks of blue and white cut across the surface like sound, like music drifting out into the street from somewhere just out of view.

It stopped being about buildings - it became about what happens around them.

If you spend a bit of time with it, there’s a sense of motion running through the whole piece. The drips and softened edges create a subtle shimmer, like light shifting across wet streets or reflections flickering on glass. Everything feels slightly fluid, gently out of sync, and constantly alive as the surface catches and releases light.

From a distance, it holds together as a strong, structured composition. Up close, it loosens, small details, overlaps, and textures start to emerge, giving it that sense of energy just beneath the surface.

And that’s really what it brings into a space.

It keeps a room from ever feeling still. There’s a constant sense of movement in it, a kind of visual rhythm that shifts depending on the light and where you’re standing. The warmer tones draw you in, while the cooler passages give it balance so it doesn’t overwhelm.

It doesn’t just sit quietly on the wall - it interacts with the room.

‘Urban energy, caught mid-motion’.

Something Fishy

This one takes me right back to the beginning.

Long before I found my own direction, I was drawn to artists who worked with instinct rather than control, and Jackson Pollock was right at the centre of that. There was something about the freedom in his work that stuck with me early on. No rigid plan, no overthinking… just movement, energy, and trust in the process.

That idea never really left.

This piece came from revisiting that mindset. Letting go a bit. Working more physically, more directly, allowing the painting to build itself through action rather than careful placement.

The title Something Fishy’ is just my sense of humour, my nod to that influence… a quiet joke, really. For those that don’t know what a pollock is… it’s a North Atlantic fish.

But the process itself was anything but light.

The surface developed through layers of movement, paint thrown and allowed to fall naturally across the canvas. Lines cross over one another, intersect, break apart, then reconnect somewhere else. There’s no single focal point, no obvious hierarchy. Everything happens at once.

That’s intentional.

The palette carries a weight to it. Smoke-heavy blue-greys form the ground, with coal-black lines cutting through and sharp whites splintering across the surface like sparks. Then those reds push forward, energetic, slightly aggressive - bringing heat into what might otherwise feel controlled.

It’s a constant push and pull.

Stand close, and it feels raw. Physical. You can almost trace the movement that created it. Step back, and something else happens - the chaos begins to settle. The layers start to organise themselves visually, and a kind of balance emerges from what initially feels unpredictable.

It finds its own structure.

That’s always been the fascination for me, how something instinctive can still arrive at a point of cohesion without being forced there.

On the wall, it doesn’t sit quietly.

It holds energy. It changes depending on the light, the distance, even your mood when you look at it. There’s always something happening within it, but it never feels overwhelming, just alive.

And that’s really what ties it back to that early influence.

Not imitation, but understanding.

Letting the painting breathe on its own terms — and trusting that somewhere within the chaos, something meaningful will take shape.

‘Where instinct takes over, and chaos finds its rhythm’.

Windmills
from £750.00

Size:  100 x 50 × 4cm. (40 × 20 × 1.5in.)

Complimentary worldwide shipping included. International orders are supplied rolled for safe transit.

Every one of us has a favourite song, right?

A song you could hear over and over and never get bored with.

For me, that song is the hauntingly beautiful “The Windmills of Your Mind” by Noel Harrison, which featured in the classic film ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’, starring the late, great Steve McQueen.

One morning in the studio, I was putting the finishing touches to this painting. It didn’t have a name at this point until - as if on cue - that very song came on the radio. In that instant, something clicked. The circles, the rhythm, the endless flow of colour and form all mirrored the lyrics. And so Windmills’ was born.

‘Like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel’ - this piece captures the endless turning of thought and memory. Rings of colour drift and overlap, tumbling across the canvas in a rhythm that feels both playful and profound. Blues, greens, yellows, and pinks spin like fragments of a dream, while drips and textures soften the edges, as if time itself is melting.

There’s a certain rhythm running through this piece that feels familiar, even if you can’t quite place it at first.

It isn’t chaotic movement. It’s more like something looping — ideas returning, shifting slightly, then circling back again. That was really the starting point. I wasn’t trying to capture a single moment, but something ongoing… the way thoughts, memories, and feelings tend to move through us.

You’ll notice how the colours carry that energy.

They don’t sit still, they hum a little, pushing against one another, then easing off. The overlapping forms create these subtle cycles, almost like layers of movement happening at once. Nothing resolves completely, but it doesn’t need to.

It keeps turning.

From across the room, it reads as bold and expressive. Up close, it softens, colour and form become more nuanced, more personal. You start to pick up on those quieter moments within the movement.

And that’s where it tends to connect.

It has a way of pulling you in without demanding attention. In a living space, it brings energy and conversation. In a quieter corner, it settles into something more reflective. It doesn’t behave like a fixed image, it feels more like something that shifts slightly each time you come back to it.

That’s what makes it stay with you.

Over time, it starts to feel less like something you’re looking at, and more like something you recognise. There’s a familiarity to it, that sense of thoughts looping, ideas evolving, clarity appearing and slipping away again.

It doesn’t try to pin anything down - it just keeps moving, in its own way.

‘Like a circle in a spiral, ‘Windmills’ turns thought into colour’.

When I paint realism, I’ll often use a grid.

It’s just an artist’s tool really, something that sits quietly underneath everything, helping proportions fall into place. It’s never meant to be seen. Once the painting takes over, the grid disappears and does its job unnoticed.

But with this piece, I started to question that.

What happens if you don’t remove it? What if the grid isn’t hidden… what if it is the painting?

Instead of something precise or mathematical, the grid here became more of a loose framework, something to respond to rather than follow. It gave the painting a structure, but not a rigid one.

The surface was built up slowly. Warm ochres, rusts and ambers came first, then cooler blues and pale turquoise began to interrupt and soften things. Some lines were dragged through, others broken or allowed to fade. A few areas were reinforced, but plenty were left unresolved.

It’s not about accuracy - it’s about balance.

There’s a sense that the painting has been worked, adjusted, reconsidered. You can see traces of what came before — marks that haven’t been completely covered, layers that still show through. Nothing feels overly corrected, and that’s intentional.

Light plays its part as well.

Certain areas catch it more than others, pulling forward slightly, while softer passages fall back. That unevenness keeps the surface active without it ever feeling busy.

From a distance, the grid gives a sense of order. Something stable.

Step closer, and it loosens. You start to notice the warmth in the colour, the interruptions, the small tensions between areas that don’t quite align perfectly.

That contrast is what gives it life.

In a space, it tends to ground things without feeling heavy. There’s structure there, but it doesn’t impose itself. It sits comfortably, adding a sense of quiet rhythm rather than demanding attention.

Over time, it becomes less about the grid itself and more about the feeling it creates.

‘Layers of memory, mapped in colour and line’.

Tidal Forms
from £1,080.00

Size: 90 × 80 × 4cm. (36 × 31.5 × 1.5in.)

Complimentary worldwide shipping included. International orders are supplied rolled for safe transit.

We’re lucky enough to live just a short drive from the breathtaking beaches of the South Pembrokeshire coast.

One of our favourite retreats is the beautiful seaside village of Amroth, a place we return to again and again when we need to recharge our batteries. There’s something spiritual about walking down to the water’s edge, letting the tide wash over our toes, and feeling that quiet rhythm of the sea.

I’ve always been fascinated by the shapes the sea reveals as it pulls back and returns, leaving shifting shapes in the sand?

That ebb and flow is what inspiredTidal Forms’.

White, organic patterns stretch and ripple across a charcoal ground, like currents carving their path or waves leaving their imprint behind. It’s a piece that captures rhythm - steady, timeless, always moving.

The emotional temperature is calm yet powerful. The monochrome palette carries sophistication, while the shapes suggest energy in motion, a quiet reminder of how nature constantly reshapes itself. It feels grounded, but never still.

In your home, Tidal Forms brings balance. Its flowing patterns add a sense of movement, while the grey-and-white contrast anchors the space with clarity. In minimalist rooms, it takes the lead as a bold statement. In eclectic or coastal-inspired interiors, it enhances atmosphere with subtle rhythm.

The true magic of the piece lies in its adaptability. Look once and it feels serene, like a tide at rest. Look again and it feels full of momentum, alive with hidden motion. That ability to shift with your gaze is what makes it unforgettable.

This work is ideal for contemporary living rooms, serene bedrooms, or creative spaces where calm energy is welcome. Its palette blends easily with almost any colour scheme, while its organic lines bring a natural touch to modern design.

“The quiet rhythm of the tide, captured in form.”

Fracture
from £1,215.00

Size:  90 × 90 × 4cm. (36 × 36 × 1.5in.)

Complimentary worldwide shipping included. International orders are supplied rolled for safe transit.

Do you ever find yourself drawn back to the same landscape, again and again?

Less than a two hour drive from us is the Pembrokeshire coast and my wife and I visit as often as we can.

Pembrokeshire and it’s majestic coastline is a place that never disappoints. The cliffs, shaped by time and tide, reveal layers of sedimentary rock fractured by weather, water, and movement - records of forces working patiently over thousands of years.

Standing along the coast, you begin to notice how nothing is truly solid. Rock splits, shifts, and reforms. Lines appear where pressure has built and released. That sense of slow tension giving way is what led to Fracture’.

Rather than depicting the coastline directly, the painting distils the experience of being there - the movement of water, the weight of stone, and the moments where surfaces give way.

The surface was built through layered gestures, dragging and breaking paint across the canvas. Blacks and greys form a dense, grounding base, while whites tear through like exposed stone faces catching light.

Using ‘abstract’ license, streaks of blue, obviously not found in nature in these rocks, was added, which move diagonally across the surface, echoing water cutting through rock, adding rhythm and direction. Texture plays a central role here - thick passages sit beside scraped areas, creating a tactile record of pressure and release.

On the wall, Fracture brings a sense of momentum and depth. It feels powerful without being heavy, energetic without noise. From across the room, the diagonal movement pulls the eye through the piece; up close, the layered textures slow you down, inviting closer inspection.

Collectors often describe living with works like this as grounding. It introduces a quiet strength into a space - something steady and elemental that balances modern interiors beautifully, whether against clean walls or more textured surroundings.

“Energy split open — power and rhythm on canvas.”

I’ve always been fascinated by rainbows, I don’t know about you!

Not just how they look, but how they happen. That moment when sunlight hits water in just the right way and suddenly colour appears where there wasn’t any a second before - it’s all about refraction!

That idea of water droplets having the ability to bend light is what led this piece. But I felt that the piece would only work if the droplet felt oversized - almost exaggerated - so the shapes beneath it have room to bend, distort, and shift to emulate the refraction phenomenon.

From across the room, it feels bold and fairly structured at first. Strong colour, clear shapes, something you can take in quickly. But the longer you stay with it, the more that clarity softens. You start to notice where things aren’t quite fixed, where drips interrupt, where colours overlap in ways that keep changing the longer you look.

The yellows carry that sense of light breaking through, almost like a glow sitting just beneath the surface, while the blues and purples give it depth so it doesn’t feel flat. Then the reds come in and lift it again, adding a bit of energy that moves your eye around the canvas without forcing it anywhere.

Those circular forms hint at droplets, but not in an obvious way. More like small points where everything bends slightly, like you’re catching a glimpse of something mid-change.

And that’s really how it behaves in a space.

It doesn’t just sit there as a fixed image. There’s a subtle shift to it depending on the light, the angle, even how long you spend with it. In a simpler room it naturally becomes a focal point, but it doesn’t feel heavy. In a more layered space it adds brightness and movement without competing.

It just keeps giving you something back the longer you look.

Some places never really leave us, don’t you agree?

The shapes, the colours, the architecture from our past. We move on, but parts of it stay subconsciously with us, always sitting quietly in the background.

I grew up in the South Wales valleys, surrounded by industry, miners terraced houses clinging to hillsides, bridges and viaducts cutting across space, heavy concrete and steel everywhere.

At the time it just felt normal moving through this landscape, but looking back there was a strong sense of structure running through everything. That’s the part that stayed with me.

I found myself drawn to the repetition of it all, the lines, the blocks, the way things connected and held together. Even the contrast had a kind of balance to it. Rust against dark surfaces, hard edges beside worn textures. It wasn’t polished, but it wasn’t random either, and there was something in that which stuck.

‘Urban Echoes’ comes from those impressions, but not in a literal sense. It’s more about reducing those memories down to form and balance, letting the structure come through without trying to recreate a specific place. The terracotta tones hint at weathered metal and brick, while the darker areas hold everything in place and give it weight.

There’s a framework running through it, but it isn’t rigid. Some elements repeat, others interrupt, and that slight tension between order and disruption is what keeps it interesting. It’s controlled, but not overly precise, and you can still sense where things have been adjusted or left slightly unresolved.

In a space it tends to settle in rather than take over. It brings a sense of structure and quiet presence, something that anchors the room without making it feel heavy. The longer you live with it, the more it gives back.

It’s really just a reflection of those early surroundings, simplified but still carrying their weight, the kind of influence that doesn’t disappear, it just becomes part of how you see things… and who you are!

Just half an hour’s drive from my studio in South Wales lies Cardiff - the City of Arcades.

These ornate Victorian passageways are worlds unto themselves - enclosed spaces where light softens, footsteps echo, and time seems to move differently.

My wife Amanda and I return to them often, wandering without hurry, absorbing the layers of texture, colour, and atmosphere that make each arcade feel intimate and self-contained.

One of my wife’s favourite places within those arcades is a small crystal shop, named ‘Crystals’ appropriately (pictured in thumbnails). Glowing quietly with shelves of quartz, amethyst, and agate, each stone carries the visual evidence of pressure and patience - formed over immense stretches of time, shaped by forces that cannot be rushed.

She has always been drawn to agate, known for its grounding, soothing qualities and its intricate bands of colour. On one visit, a particular piece stopped us both: warm earthen browns intertwined with cool teal blues, flowing through translucent stone like frozen movement.

We brought it home, and that crystal became the emotional and visual seed of Soothe A Space’.

Back in the studio, I wanted to translate that sense of natural equilibrium into paint. Layers were built slowly, allowing colours to merge, separate, and resurface - much like sediment settling and shifting in water. Earthy browns anchor the composition, teals introduce calm and depth, and creamy whites soften transitions, creating breathing space within the surface. Some passages dried matte and absorbent; others retained a subtle sheen, catching light the way mineral veins do when turned in the hand.

Every mark is a record of movement, decision, and restraint.

There’s a tactile richness to ‘Soothe A Space’ that reveals itself over time. From a distance, the painting reads as cohesive and calming - balanced, grounded, and composed. Step closer, and complexity emerges: soft eddies of colour, layered textures, and gentle transitions that draw the eye inward rather than pushing it away.

Light interacts differently throughout the day. Morning light lifts the cooler tones, enhancing clarity and freshness. In the evening, warmer hues deepen, creating a more intimate, enveloping presence. The painting never feels static; it subtly responds to its environment, much like the natural materials that inspired it.

Displayed in a home, ‘Soothe A Space’ becomes more than a visual focal point - it becomes atmosphere.

Collectors often speak about works like this in terms of how they feel rather than how they look. The piece has a calming influence on a room, gently lowering its emotional temperature without draining warmth or character.

In a modern living space, it introduces balance and quiet confidence. In a minimalist interior, it acts as an anchor - adding depth, texture, and soul without clutter. It’s particularly suited to spaces where you want to think clearly, unwind fully, or feel grounded at the end of a long day.

This is a painting designed not to compete with a room, but to harmonise with it.

This is a large-scale work, designed to be experienced rather than glanced at. Its size allows the colours to breathe, the textures to unfold, and the energy to move across the surface without compression. In person, it holds a wall with quiet authority - felt before it’s fully understood.

Collectors often underestimate scale until they stand in front of the piece. The painting doesn’t just occupy space, it defines it, creating a sense of calm and cohesion that smaller works simply can’t achieve.

“Inspired by agate, painted to calm and ground your space”.

Step inside the space

Inside the Studio

Where instinct, experimentation, and process shape each painting.

Moments in the Studio

There’s no fixed formula here. Some days begin with an idea, others with a feeling - but the process always unfolds through experimentation.

Each layer becomes a response to the last, allowing the painting to evolve naturally over time.

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life

~ Pablo Picasso

Why Collectors Choose Originals

Every painting begins as a moment of instinct and exploration - and once complete, it exists as a singular work that will never be repeated. Original art carries a presence that goes beyond decoration; it becomes part of the space it lives in, evolving with light, atmosphere, and the rhythm of daily life.

Each piece is created as a one-of-a-kind original, signed and dated by myself, marking its place within an evolving body of work. Professionally finished and ready to hang, the paintings move seamlessly from studio to home, allowing collectors to experience the work exactly as it was intended.

To ensure authenticity and provenance, every artwork is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Pieces are carefully packaged and delivered with complimentary shipping, reflecting the same attention and care given throughout the creative process.

Collecting an original isn’t simply acquiring an object - it’s becoming part of the story behind the work, and giving a unique piece a new environment in which to live and grow.
