A bit about me...

My passion for art started in school. I gained my only art qualification a year earlier than expected, a feat that made both me and my parents proud, although it wasn't until a lot later that I was fortunate enough to be able to persue my passion as a career... more on that later.
My school years passed without incident. I did the usual routine... get good grades, go to university, get a good job blah! blah! blah!. This pushed me into the jolly corporate world where I spent the next twenty years or so. If you detect a little sarcasm in my voice it is entirely intentional - I call this period my 'national service'.
During this time, I kept my art 'ticking over', creating mainly pet portraits and landscapes for my co-workers in both acrylics and watercolours, I also developed a deep dislike for authority and was known as a bit of a rebel. There's no 'I' in team I was told, my repost was always the same 'yes, but there is a 'me'. I was proud to wear a badge of honour and not go on team meetings (I thought they were a complete waste of time).

My desire to create stuff instead of the 9to5 became overwhelming, in short, I had to get out! I took that giant leap in to the unknown and 'do' art full time and have been supported all the way by my family.

I've now been an artist full-time for about 15 years and love every minute of it. My garden studio is my happy place where I can just be myself.
My preferred medium is acrylics and I love nothing more than to experiment with my pieces, exploring different ways of applying paint to canvas, I absolutely love what I do and I hope this is reflected in my art.

I can't say I have a fixed creation process. Standing in front of a blank canvas, I have an idea of what I'm going to paint, but things don't always go to plan. You could say I'm a graduate of the 'Forrest Gump School of Abstract Art', i.e. "You never know what you're gonna get". Therefore, each painting takes on a life of it's own and is constantly evolving until I feel I can take the painting no further!

All my canvas artwork are one-off originals, painted on gallery quality canvases, using the highest quality professional artists materials. Each piece of artwork has it's edges painted as a continuation of the front surface and can be mounted straight to the wall with no framing required. Everything required to wall mount the artwork is included.

All original pieces are signed, dated and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
All of my prints use the highest quality inks and printing techniques to ensure a faithful representation of the original and will have the edition number (1 to 99) written and signed by myself somewhere on the artwork prior to shipping by my print partner.

I hope my art stirs in the viewer a particular emotion or mood - that's what they are designed to do! Paintings, and art in general, I feel, are meant to relax, entertain and be enjoyed. My goal is to invite contemplation in the viewer, to evoke emotions and to help you find that unique piece that will resonate with your passions or personality.

‘Life should be fun and full of excitement, but at times, I know, can also be very, very busy. I want my paintings to stop people in their tracks, to pause a while and to encourage involvement and imagination'.
Thank you for stopping by my site,
With love and gratitude
